There is a lot of good history here, but it drags at times. Apparently there was about a 400 year period that consisted of one lord taking over Perugia and another leaving, and vice versa. Then the pope would take over. Then the cycle would repeat. It gets a little old after a while. The writing style is a bit dated, but if you're interested in this part of Italy, there's certainly more depth here than any guide book will ever give you.Product details

The Story of Perugia Medieval Towns Series eBook Margaret Symons Lina Duff Gordon Reviews
If I'm not mistaken, Waterfield is the married name of Lina Duff-Gordon. In turn, this author is double-listed. Confusion may have occurred, as her mother was Lucie Duff-Gordon. I have not read it but gave it five stars (because one is required to give stars) b/c I am guessing it is a wonderful recounting of the times.
